Jean Renaud Isidor, known by his stage name Isimic, was born in Carrefour on September 17, 1987. Isimic has always been a well rounded young man from childhood combining academic achievements and his passion for arts. Isimic achieved a graduate degree in communication, law, and music. He also landed a job teaching literature in some schools in Haiti for a few years. He also joined a USAID-funded health program in Haiti as a data manager. Behind this many academic achievements, Isimic's love for music has always been at the heart of his passion.
Isimic explored music as he grew up because he was born to a musical family. He was enrolled in his church's children's choir at a very young age. It was there that he became aware of his talent and continued his training at a music school. Inspired by his father, himself a musician, and by an older sister passionate about singing, he naturally gravitated towards this artistic path.
At the age of 10, he performed on stage for the first time in a concert with the choir of the Independent Christian Alliance Church. Shortly after, he composed and performed his first gospel song, "Power of the Gospel," as a duet with his sister, Marie Jean Paul Isidor.
Like many young artists, Isimic faced many challenges. His parents, concerned about his future wanted him to focus on maintaining good grades and an academic career. Isimic eventually maintained his faith in pursuing a musical career that could also afford the opportunity to reach and impact the lives of others worldwide.
For Isimic, success isn't about fame, but about achieving goals. Starting in 2006, he began directing gospel choirs in Haiti and training many young people in music. This mission of passing on his knowledge became a source of pride for him and his first taste of success. A few years later, he founded his own group, Isimic Band, opening a new chapter in his career.
Isimic's music career in the haitian music industry began to reach an international recognition and soon became a candidate for a well known international konpa band, Zenglen. He was proposed the opportunity to travel and explore his career. Arriving in the United States in November 2023, Isimic was invited two months later to perform at the Haitian Music Awards by Kerby Léveillé, then manager of Zenglen. His performance impressed the group's staff, who quickly decided to bring him on board.
“I feel very comfortable in the group. I’ve received support from both the veterans and the new members. I welcome both praise and criticism with equal interest, because both help me grow.”
TURNING POINT: JOINING ZENGLEN
Although he didn't participate in writing Zenglen's latest album, which was already finished when he joined, he did contribute to the lyrics and assisted with background vocals. "Konn sa w vo" is one of the tracks lead by Isimic on the album, and it's already one of fan's favorite. The artist delivers a masterful performance, perfectly in line with Zenglen's musical aesthetic, with the style that the public loves. The compas scene can rejoice in having a talent like Isimic in its ranks, a complete singer, as musically accomplished as he is intellectually.
"I adapted very well to Zenglen's repertoire, I still have a lot to learn." His ambitions extend beyond a simple singing career. He wants to leave a lasting mark on Haitian music:
Isimic embodies discipline, perseverance, and passion. His trajectory proves that success is the fruit of rigor as much as talent. And while his journey within the compas direct genre is only just beginning, everything suggests that his voice will resonate for a long time in the history of Haitian music.
